My Canvas
I specialize in letting the art speak to me
I am Stephanie Fazekas, a native of Detroit, and an emerging self-taught mixed media artist. Since childhood, I’ve had a passion for creation—whether it's writing, crocheting, designing candles, or sewing. Over the past two years, I have honed my skills in painting and digital illustration, fostering a consistent practice in these areas.
My creativity is sparked by dreams, conversations, nature, and my life experiences. When inspiration strikes, I usually grab a piece of paper or my iPad to capture the whims of my imagination. I then sit with the idea, allowing myself time to figure out how best to bring it to life on its intended medium. This process allows my mind and hands to collaborate, creating pieces that I am proud to share with the world.
Although acrylic is my primary medium, and I prefer to create with my fingers or palette knife, I allow my creative spirit the liberty to experiment with various mediums and tools. All objects within my reach are fair game. Everything is subject to be painted or used to paint. This exploration results in pieces that aim to inspire joy and harmony within both myself and my audience.
My "Women on the Hall" series is a tribute to women and the myriad roles we play in our daily lives, which continues to fuel my journey as an artist.
"Wild Wall Flowers" is a series that I consider my signature work, encapsulating both my metaphorical and literal perspective on life, love, and the celebration of both.
In a gesture of love and gratitude, I often give my artwork as gifts. To me, art is more than a hobby – it's life, therapy, and a means of deriving and expressing immediate gratification.
